The main form of communication within healthcare has been verbal or written text. This creates an obstacle for people who have language barriers or difficulty in verbal communication to manage their care. In this book, the author emphasizes the numerous side effects that antidepressants have caused her. This made me wonder how well do we understand the side effects of medicines.&nbsp; And a recent survey found that 4 out of 5 people on anti-depressant drugs are unaware of their side effects (link) Problems of Current System 1.&nbsp; Side effects information is not ‘customer-friendly’ (link) 2. Communication in the medical field has been verbal or written, which can be an obstacle for people with verbal limitations 3. This leads language barrier issues&nbsp;(link) Solution Universal Symbol System&nbsp;(link) Design Development To begin with, I researched current existing icons&nbsp;(link). I learned a lot of them are lacking a sense of unity and are sometimes cartoonish. So I wanted to direction that can solve this issue. Since most of the icons are realistic and organic drawings, I wondered if geometric shapes could work instead, so I conducted the experiment (zine︎︎︎). At the same time, I tried the first symbol draft that was inspired by Blisssymbolics&nbsp;(link) for a more abstract/geometric version.&nbsp;After the experiment, I learned that it might be difficult for people to perceive the meanings right away. For example, if the symbol indicates usage, then there’s no background color and the icons will be shown with their brand color and if the symbol indicates side effects, icons will have a colored background which will be either yellow(mild side effect) or red(several side effect). Package (prescription medicine)For the vertical bottle-shaped drug containers symbols could be placed in a vertical label format because, unlike the box-type package, there’s a big limitation for using space. For medicine bottles, incorporating Vital Symbols can be achieved with flag labels. The number of symbols that are presented should be limited to a maximum of five or six for text size consideration. Space can be more effectively utilized with double-sided flag labels for both symptoms (usage) and side effects (warning). AAC is important because it gives patients the freedom to express themselves without relying on someone else. The patients use specific AAC devices for communication, and it helps users to communicate through a combination of words, sentences, and images.&nbsp; With Vital Symbols, I imagine a situation where people can use symbols through tablets or phones to reduce the cost. A problem they faced was outdated graphics that had them under-differentiated and an unprofessional brand image. This is problematic because the issue of mental illness is more important now than ever before, and nonprofits’ dependence on funding and donations means their impact relies on their outreach. Until now, mental health treatment has been focused on traditional therapy and medication, but due to advances in technology, it is expected that there will be new treatment approaches in the future. My book explores this phenomenon in six chapters, covering the history and attributes of Korean apartments. I used raw materials like hardboard, naked binding, and uncoated paper to evoke the rough texture of a concrete building. The grid system of uniform rectangles, inspired by distant views of apartment windows, highlights the repetitive and shared nature of apartment living—where identical spaces are divided and inhabited As a team leader, I played a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity of the hotel experiences. One of my main roles was to create a brand identity for “Petmilycation”, which allows guests to stay with their pets. To make the experience feel more exclusive and memorable, I introduced a passport-themed design concept brochure that encouraged guests to personalize their stay. For the grand opening of Vvertigo bar, I led the full creative direction—from photoshoot art direction to promotional materials and event design—managing the project from concept to execution. I also created a wide range of digital and print assets to promote various hotel venues and seasonal campaigns. Award, Typography, Semi-Finalist Selected work for Hongik University's 70th Anniversary International Exchange ExhibitionMaterial: NT File (polyethylene-based transparent film paper) Printing: Laser Print,&nbsp;Silk Screen&nbsp; Eternal Terms was inspired by the documentary Terms and Conditions May Apply (2013) by Cullen Hoback. His team raises awareness about how personal data can be exposed online, even when users believe they have deleted their accounts. Fascinated by this idea, I explored the concept of creating a ‘Terms and Conditions (book)’ that last forever. To execute this concept, I utilized PE (plastic) paper, known for its durability, and employed silk screen printing. For the text, I selected the Terms and Conditions of ten of the most visited websites, such as Google and Facebook, carefully analyzing key passages that raised interesting questions about data privacy. For the first attempt, I created a book using Google’s Terms and Conditions for the texts and struck a line where there vague wording in it. The plastic material could melt in an offset printer so I used a small laser printer that I owned which was the book size. I applied the documentary’s, ‘Terms and Conditions May Apply’, story for the contents and used vinyl textbook covers for the book finishin so as to keep the ‘digital eternity’ concept. I carefully read each page and highlighted any specific line that had ambiguous or might look questionable content. I decided to give this content the attention it deserved by displaying it in an expressive way via a bright, visual medium, as opposed to a small black-and-white print. Since the paper size was too big for a laser printer, I used silkscreen, which gave more interesting results in terms of texture and color. <img width="2232" height="3241" width_o="2232"
